OFFICE RENOVATION

The project concerns the renovation of the technical architectural office M.A. BALTAS + Associates of a total area of 30 square meters. The purpose of the project is to create functional areas aiming to express the dynamics of this company, through a purely industrial renovation.

The technical office consists of two rooms, separated by aluminum and glass, thus ensuring the autonomy of the two areas and maintaining at the same tie their transparency and visual contact with the neighboring areas. The rest renovation was characterized by an open plan design. The glass partition curtain favors the circulation of natural light and enhances the uninterrupted visual continuity and supervision of the area. Emphasis is given on materials, lighting and the selection of furniture.

The dominant element is the coating of the inner and outer walls with the construction of artificial rocks in a rectangular cross section with custom-made construction (With the help of a grid with metal separating blades in black). Inside the office, there is a stone wall creating the feeling of a cave, in order to harmonize it with the geographical location of the area. In the two large openings of the office, due to its angular position, black metal blades were also placed, thus creating the feeling of a table. In the frames and the external door, we chose dark green that resembles the dark side of an olive leaf to harmonize with the character of the island (a traditional olive oil production area).

The office aesthetics faithfully follows the industrial style. Our architectural intervention in this style results from the use of rough and old materials, such as metal, glass and cement. On the floor, a large tile was placed in the form of cement, giving emphasis on the industrial character of the decoration.

The combination of natural wood and metal in the custom-made minimal furniture of the offices and the wardrobes completes the aesthetics and the decoration of the workplace. The area ends with soft tones and at the same time the necessary vividness from the industrial touches.

The abundant natural light from the openings is supplemented by the direct and indirect artificial lighting. It highlights specific parts and constructions and completes its new dynamics. More specifically, hidden lights were placed on the ceiling, creating shadows and emphasizing on the construction of artificial rocks. A vertical linear luminaire in the central column highlights the handmade construction from gold and silver leaves, giving a different feeling to the decoration. Linear luminaires were placed over the two cabinets, completing the artificial lighting.
